L’artista belga Michel Couturier presenta in anteprima a Catania, presso On The Contemporary e Zō Centro culture contemporanee, una serie di video e installazioni tratti dai suoi viaggi in Sicilia fra 2016 e 2018.
“Sospesa fra stupore dell’inatteso, ammirazione e perplessità, la sua lettura mette in luce contrasti stridenti: grandi infrastrutture invasive e una natura in cui il mito coesiste con l’assedio del cemento recitano l’epica abietta e sublime della condizione umana, componendo un intenso omaggio antiretorico a una terra gloriosa e negletta entro una rappresentazione formalmente impeccabile e intimamente commossa delle immagini.”
The Belgian artist Michel Couturier shows for the first time in Catania, at On the Contemporary and Zō contemporary culture center, a selection of installations and videos from his trips through Sicily between 2016 and 2018.
“Suspended between the surprise for the unexpected, enchantment and perplexity, his reading emphasizes the most strident contrasts: huge invasive infrastructures, as well as a nature whose mythical soul coexists with the siege by the concrete, tell the abject and sublime epic of the human condition. A wholehearted antirhetorical tribute to a glorious and neglected land, shaped within the frame of formally impeccable and intimately emotional images.”
